The Ktomics web site says:

AND Now WWWiki and Chat it Up Lite are going Open source on September 30th! If you need WWWiki or Chat it Up Lite before then, please feel free to purchase a license, but if you can hold off until September 30th then you can have it for free!

Is that wiki going to merge into the core?

Nope, the Core Wiki is still on it's own path.

As mentioned by the Project lead Core Wiki is a seporate project all togeather.. And being that its C# and mine is VB.NET (as was the gospal standard for DNN projects back when it was written). I don't know how much can be shared between the too other than concepts.. BUT don't get me wrong.. I would be happy as a lark if WWWiki or Chat It up lite found there way into DNN as a fixture of some kind :-).

What is gained by NOT incorporating WWWiki as the core wiki?
