Building a module that has a DNN tree control inside an update panel (and maybe there is a better way to do this?)

Whenever I click a node to do a post back the tree disappears - any thoughts on why ?

Michael - so its not being saved in the viewstate or something ?  I have used that control in the past but it always seemed like a kind of heavy workaround

Well that doesnt work - I click a node and I get the fun error message of

Multiple controls with the same ID 'DNNTree1' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs.

Now I know that this usually means the control is being written twice and i should check for postback etc etc but the only time the tree is 'created' is on the first page load.

Any other ideas?

Perhaps turn viewstate for the control off and only have viewstate on for the dynamic placeholder? Or call the controls.clear() method on the dynamic placeholder before you add the tree control.

Other than that I'm stumped because I haven't used the tree control that much.
