Hi,

I downloaded and attempted to install the DNNAjaxModule - Install package available at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/Forge/ComponentClientAPI/Downloads/tabid/875/Default.aspx however I got the following error: The module being installed requires additional components which are not available in your environment. I'm currently running DNN version 4.5.5. Is the module compatible with this version of DNN? I (think I!) remember reading somewhere that Client API version 4.x or above is required? I'm guessing I do cos I'm running DNN 4.x although I stand to be corrected. How do I check? I have installed AJAX and the AJAX Control Toolkit and AJAX extensions and AJAX Control Toolkit are listed in my VS Toolbox.

Thanks,

Norman

That template is quite old.  I would recommend reviewing the one at http://www.codeplex.com/codeendeavortemplate, including the videos.

The code will work in DNN4.x as long as you have the latest version of the clientapi and webcontrols installed.  You can upgrade to the latest version by grabbing the install package at http://www.codeplex.com/dnnwebcontrols.  Simply extract the files into the root of your website.

MAKE A BACKUP OF THE FILES FIRST.

That said, I chose to use the new DNN5 manifest file for the latest template, therefore you may need to resort back to the older manifest to get it to install in DNN4.x.

My recommendation would be to develop your module against a DNN5 install.  Then when finished, update your manifest to the old one, install the latest ClientAPI/WebControls, and try it there.  I wish I had more time to streamline the 4.x support, but unfortunately I don't.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the reply. Are the templates compatible with ASP.NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 or do I require ASP.NET 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008? I note from the original template that I downloaded that ToolsVersion="3.5" was referred to in the project file (i.e. DNNAjaxModule1.vbproj).

Thanks,

Norman

Sorry for the late response.  Yes, the templates are geared towards DNN5 and VS.NET 2008.
