There is one feature that is lacking in the solpart menu component. It's great you can bind the menu to Root, Child or Same it's very dynamic, however there is one feature that would really give ALOT of power related to skin design that is currently missing. "ChildrenOf". (children of a specific tabid)

This at first might look like an odd request as skin are "supposed" to be generic and installable everywhere requiring everything to be dynamic, but that is not allways the case. Sometimes there is a need to special design a skin with special features based on known prerequisities. Being able to create i.e. a TreeMenu based on "ChildrenOf" will give alot of oportunities related to site navigation and it will give benefits as it is a skincomponent available in the admin skins.

Thanks,
/Rob

This is not a bad request, in fact this enhancement is a common one that made it into our design for the new navigation provider.  You can read the full details in this doc, but here is the relevant portion (page 11).

New: The skin object now supports the passing in of an arbitrary TabId to act as the

root (StartTabId). This has been a common feature request of both the skin

navigation objects and Solution Partners Menu Module.

If you need this functionality today, you can get my free menu module where you can specify any valid XPath statement to select the starting node.

Regarding the "wrong" forum.  I believe this post would have been better placed in the webcontrol forum, except there isn't one yet:)  Only the project page.

Hi Jon, Tried to look through the document you pointed out above, however I failed to identify the piece of information I’m looking for.

I’m not sure if the skinning documentation in the zipped 3.2 package is updated or not, and if they are it seems I misunderstood a feature implementation and this is simply not possible :o(

But I try to ask and see if you are able to point me in a direction where I can solve this.
I need to set a parent tabid for the treeview control in a skin. And I thought that I just needed to do this in the XML file. Is this doable?

<Object>
  <Token>[TREEVIEW:2]</Token>
  <Settings>
   <Setting>
    <Name>??Key??</Name>
    <Value>??TabID??</Value>
   </Setting>
  </Settings>
 </Object>

I’m also trying to remove the TreeView to render the pictures

<Setting>
 <Name>NodeClosedImage</Name>
 <Value></Value>
</Setting>
<Setting>
 <Name>NodeOpenImage</Name>
 <Value></Value>
</Setting>
<Setting>
 <Name>NodeLeafImage</Name>
 <Value></Value>
</Setting>

Cheers,
/Rob

??Key?? - I mentioned above that this was StartTabId.  I am not sure what you are confused about...

The picture one I am not sure on... my guess is the skin parser sees that your value is blank so it uses the default.   I would try something like images/spacer.gif
