Hi Jon,
Having played with dnn for a reasonable amount of time, I've followed your work on the client API with interest and I think it's one of the cleaner.
Yesterday I got to know
YouOS and I was just astonished. I browsed their source repository to realize it's pretty much a
massive version of what you've been moving towards with the client-side framework.
I must say it then also felt a bit threatening, as member of a company strategically relying on dnn, to see that those smart guys from the MIT achieved to put up the foundations of a full blown Service oriented and client driven CMS/OS.
That made me think "integration" thus that post.
When Vicenç came in Paris for our training week early this month, we had a discussion about the limitation for third party components and I think I understand the constraints you depend on.
Sill, their
licence and
forum posts (
2) suggested to me that they would be quite happy to have server side providers introduced and I'd rather see a DNN port of YouOS (one of the finest server side framework plugged into one of the finest client side one), than Google getting their hands on it to commercialize the ultimate 3rd gen CMS-killer OS.
Do you know about that framework?
Do you think it could be inspirational for dnn client framewok?
Do you think it could be an idea to see if we can set up a cross integration project to implement a complete provider?
Edit: I'm also posting
there to have their opinion
