I translated certain things (ie. "Please enter the code you see in the box") into another language using the language editor.  It works fine.  But later, I go back to the exact same place to translate into something else (because I wasn't happy with the first translation).  it replaced the first translation with the second translation.  But when I go and browse the website, it continues to display the first translation.  (It is as if the first tranlation has been stored somewhere in a backup file and the website continues to use that first tranlation from the backup file no matter what.)  What's going on?  Anyone else see this problem?  How do I fix this problem?

Thanks for your reply..  However, its not just the cache.  I looked into the files and there is an extra file.  Specifically...

The original english file is signin.ascx.resx

The translated file is signin.ascx.(whateverlanguage).resx

An extra file is signin.ascx.(whateverlanguage).Portal-0.resx

It is from that extra file that my website is drawing the translation from.  So no matter how many times I change the translated file, the website still use the information from the extra file.  How can I remove that extra file?

please read the localization whitepaper, contained in DotNetNuke documentation package, that explaines the resource files:

  • signin.ascx.resx is default resource (en-US)
  • signin.ascx.de-DE.resx is resource of German language pack
  • signin.ascx.Portal-0.resx is portal specific adoption of English version, created by admin of portal 0
  • signin.ascx.Portal-0.de-DE.resx is portal specific adoption of German version, created by admin of portal 0
  • signin.ascx.host.de-DE.resx is installation specific adoption of German version, created by host

Only .ascx.resx is part of the framework and gets overwritten on portal updates, beside .ascx.de-DE.resx is from Language Pack and does get overwritten on language pack updates.
