Over the last week i strived in two directions:

1- to find free means for localizing my DotNetNuke to Arabic, as the current release DotNetNuke version 4.6 Multilingual Translations includes only static translations.  This means that DotNetNuke framework will convert static strings, but not convert "dynamic content" (i.e. content stored in the database). there are other Apollo and Effority release but they raise error stating the following:

Failure Did not find any .dnn file ???
Failure ExceptionSystem.Exception: File load failed, aborting at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.ReadZipStream() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

so what can i do to localize the tabs and menu, i mean free downloads?

i managed to create a child arabic portal, changed the language selector method to switch to the default page of each portal, but sure there should be better, effecient way of handling this issue.

2- the only arabic language pack i found is ar-JO while i need the ar-KW, after unzipping the pack, i changed all ar-JO to ar-KW even the file names, also the manifest.xml, but after zipping my folder and tried to install it the following error appeared;

Info Import file: GlobalResources.ar-KW.resx
Failure There was an error loading a Language Pack resource file. Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

what shoul i do in this respect?

i appreciate your help

Best regards

nesrine

please always check whether the package you downloaded is in fact a module install package, or a zipfile containing also other files. I always release my modules contained in a zip file that also contains a license and optional documentation

Dear Erik

I would like to thank you for your kind reply, the following are the files that raised the same error upon installation:

effority.DNNMenuNavigationProvider.zip

effority.MenuNavigationProvider.zip

effority.ealo.zip

Failure Did not find any .dnn file ???
Failure ExceptionSystem.Exception: File load failed, aborting at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.ReadZipStream() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

Nisrien,

As for the Appolo modules, I use them, and they are really great, all you have to do is to uncompress the files which you downloaded, since these are not private assemblies, when you uncompress, you will get the private assembly that will install without a problem.

I have checked the ar-JO Arabization that is available, and it is really very bad, I do not advice you to use it, and again translating the whole thing is time consuming, maybe we can split the job and do something in that regards, because I need arabization as well, and I usually translate only the parts that I need, and I never translate the admin functionality cause it takes a lot of time.
