I am using Locopon's DSLocalizator module to provide localization on a French/English Canadian site.  I have DNN language features turned off as per Locopon's instructions.  I am using Locopon's skin object for changing language.  It works, but there are a number of glitches.  The biggest one is that the language changes upon login or registration.

I will enter the site in French, press Register and I am taken to an English login screen.  I will switch back to French, log in and I am back into English.  I can move from one page to the next in the site and it stays in the proper language, but as soon as I log in, the language changes on me.

Does anybody have any insight on how what settings work in DSLocailzator and DNN 4.8?

Mike

You will have better luck asking hin directly, as he has a forum on his site that he keeps an eye on.

Yes, thanks, I have done that already but no luck.  I am wondering if it is a problem with dnn 4.8 or is it something I am doing wrong.

Mike,

Have you already checked it is not an issue with your default languages configuration for: Portal, User, and Browser Language Detection? Sometimes I have found that one may override the others, but right now I don't remember the exact behavior.

Try this:

1. If your enter the site in French, it is likely that either your browser is in French (Host-Languages-EnableBrowserLangDet AND Admin-Languages-EnableBrowserLangDet) or the default Portal's language is French (Admin-SiteSettings-AdvancedSettings-OtherSettings).

2. If you register and then are taken to an English screeen, it is likely that your User Profile has the "Preferred Locale" Profile Property set to English (Host-HostAccounts-EditUserAccounts-ManageProfile-PreferredLocale OR Admin-UserAccounts-Edit-ManageProfile-PreferredLocale).

Saludos,

Alejandro.

There's a couple of settings in Admin/Languages that you might want to check.

Enable Browser Language Detection For Current Portal? Select this option if you want to use the browser language preference for first time visitors. Disabling this option will show the site in the default language of the site.

Enable Language Parameter in URLs for Current Portal? Uncheck this option if you want to remove the language parameter in all urls
