The setup:

DNN site with 8 language options. Using what is available and some third party tools we have the site pretty will localized but... The repository. What I would like to do, if possible, is only show documents associated witht the currently chosen language. So if, for example, the user chooses French then only French language documents would show up in the repository.

The other trick is that the client wants a "view all" option. Again if French is chosen then besides all French language docs showing up the user would have an option (perhaps under filter) that would allow them to see all language doucments.

Anybody have any thoughts on how to accomplish this or do I get to write something from scratch?

Try using repository 'attributes'.   Check out the Repository forum, there is a pinned post at the top explaining how to use attributes.

Basically you would create a 'Language' attribute, and set possible values to various languages like French, English, German, etc.  They when uploading an item, the available values will be displayed allowing the uploader to set the 'language' attribute value.  Then finally in the header, you can have a drop down selection box of language values, selecting French will only show items where French was selected as the language attribute value.
