Cannot update GlobalResources.resx. All resx files (except  GlobalResources.resx) can update.

DNN 494 - Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition, Service Pack 2.

Permissions are OK.

 most likely, there is an error in XML structure of the file preventing it to be saved.

Using VS2008 can insert, delete and  modify a row. Can save GlobalResources.resx.

Using a new install (files downloaded from  codeplex) in another computer (notebook dell / Vista Ultimate), same error occurs.

Sadly, the DNN team will not fix this problem until DNN v5.1 rolls out:

Although Sebastian is technically correct, it's an issue that should have been fixed in the recently released v4.9.4.  It was a known issue for over 30 days prior to v4.9.4's release.  Instead it was withdrawn from support and is now in probable limbo of never being fixed.  It's understandable the drive to get v5.1 released, so this minor annoyance is okay for now.

You can FTP the file and "carefully" edit it from there. 

Other than that, I guess we'll just sit and wait for the magical v5.1 to come forward for a fix.  With the beta testing program in full swing, it's our hope that someone on this team is definitely testing v5.1 to ensure this bug is indeed eradicated (right Alex?  Sebastian?).
