Ah, it's the temporary cookie. Closing the browser, and opening it with a different culture in the URL then makes that the fixed locale. My guess would be it gets reset, then something else sets it back again.

Roger, with content localization there are a few use cases for different content and UI language: consider you have to administer a site with English and Chinese without speaking the second language. You get the translated texts sent back from the translation service and need to paste it into your site - which can become very difficult, if you can't read view/edit or ok and cancel (which might switch positions in RTL languages).

Huh.  I was going to say that I'd never designed a multi lingual module where you couldn't pick the language to edit in separate from the display language, but then I thought about the way 5.5 supports content localization and realised that for the "standard" modules you would have that problem.
would definitely prefer a way of turning it back to the old way though.

for 5.5.0, you may install Advanced Control Panel (download for free from www.oliverhine.com), which will sync both language settings. I added a presentation to my blog here last week.

i have same problem when i change language some module r change but search, login and other module not Localized i have DNN 5.5.0 and workinh on english to arabic
