Wilson, sorry, there is no other option than moving all texts into resource files, you may want to have a look into the "Module Localization Guide", you may download for free from Resources > Documentation > Downloads above.

Ok, now I have converted my custom modules to pick up the text from resource files and they work just fine.

but I still do have 2 problems/questions.

1. I have changed my new French portal Default languague to French (under admin - Site Settings), but if I browse to the French Portal it still shows up as English. but if I append the /language/fr-FR the page are display in french. If there any way to force the page to always show in French no matter where the browsers regional settings are from?

2. for my french Website Skin, I also have a custom skin object, I tried using the Resource file method similar to the way I did for my custom modules. but still it doesn't bring back my french translation. Do I need to do anything differently to get my localisation to work for Skin Object?

thanks again.

Wilson

1. if you are logged in, default language is derived from your user profile. for unautenticated users, language preference is read from browser settings (unless turned off), with fallback to portal default. 2. Localization for skin objects should work the same as modules, see core skin objects inside website/admin/skins folder.
