Working with DNN 551 today on a site with more than one language enabled (but with content localization disabled), I discovered that various settings on Site Settings page are now configured per language. To set them, you have to select each language using the language selector before making the configuration. However, the page does not make clear which settings (or indeed that any) are language specific.

In case anyone else has found this confusing, I thought I'd make some notes here.

The settings that I found to be language specific (there may be others) are:
  • Logo
  • Site title
  • Site description
  • Keywords
  • Copyright

AFAIK skin and container are language specific as well, but I agree, it would be helpful to have an indicator to mark those settings. Paul, would you mind to add an enhancement suggestion into the issue tracker at support.dontnetnuke.com, thank you!

All of the Language Specific settings are stored in the PortalLocalization table.  The following settings are the only ones that I am aware of that are impacted by language:

  • PortalName
  • LogoFile
  • FooterText
  • Description
  • KeyWords
  • BackgroundFile
  • Home Tab
  • Login Tab
  • Profile Tab
  • Register Tab
  • Admin Tab
  • Splash Tab
