Hi,

I am trying to create new language pack by simply modifying the current en-us language pack. I am using version 6.0 CE, but can't find the base file for the en-us. I went to this site http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/L... but clicking the en-us link doesn't take me any where.  Where can i find the current en-us file for downloading?

you can export it from within dotnetnuke itself - see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/How-to-create-export-a-core-language-pack.aspx

Buy the new Professional DNN7: Open Source .NET CMS Platform book Amazon US

en-US files are .resx files not preceeded by a locale. you may create language packs from default resources, but be aware, it will be overwritten on core/extension upgrades. If youÄd like to override the core language just for your own use, you may use language editor in admin > language, Host and Portal modue will create extra files (for all or current web site), which will not be overwritten on upgrades.

My intent is to create new language pack for CE 6.0 and up, this language is not avialable in the language dropdown (somali). I want modify the english version and save as somali locale so it won't get overwritten at all.  Do you see any issues with my plan??  Is there good resources for creating new language pack??

if you want to create a language pack for a locale not listed, you need to add it to .net framework(see pinned post in this forum). Next add this langauge in Admin > Languages and use the language editor in system mode to create translated resource files. Do not modify existing files!
