Hi;

Is there a way in which a user (specifically a database user) can determine the specific language which is currently active? Writing reports etc involves returning column headers and these ideally are adapted to specific language. Any help is appreciated.

in the database, active languages are found in PortalLanguages table, but the language being currently used by a web user cannot be determied from the database.

Hi Sebastian;

Thanks for the info. It does however, raise a different kind of question. It seems to imply that every module that displays a DB record must provide a different implementation, either by posting a different SQL call or relying on the module internal implementation to have some mechanism known to the DB SQL implementor. I have used several modules which support DB retrieval but none that i know of support this. Do you know of any? Are there any other solutions to this problem that you know of? Any thoughts on this matter are welcome.

Hans

Modules need their own database interface - either using DAL,DAL+ or DNN Petapoco.
Regarding localization support, it depends whether the module is multilingual or DNN language specific pages (and module instances) are used.
