Hi,

I installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and DNN 4.8.2 on fresh copy of Windows XP professional and it worked fine until I installed Serbian language pack. After that in IE I get "web site found" and it loads forever. Same for DNN 4.6.2.

I also uninstalled VS2005 on working Windows XP platform with DNN 4.6.2 and DNN 4.8.2 installed projects, with Serbian language pack. After I installed VS2008, I get "An error has occurred" and in IE url:  "http://localhost/dnn_482_yb/Default.aspx?tabid=36&error=Culture+name+'sr-sp-latn'+is+not+supported.%0d%0aParameter+name%3a+name&content=0"

I tried with .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5 and it's the same.

where did you get the lainguage pack from, did you try to contact the developer?

the problem with serbian language is the specification of the characters used, currently I am not sure, if DNN supports this special case.

Hi Sebastian,

I downloaded language pack from www.DotNetNuke.com and I use it over a year. I did not have any problems with this language pack until I installed

.NET Framework 3.5.

I installed .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2003 also and same happend, application crash (with same language pack).

I didn't contact developer since it is official dnn language pack, so I wanted to seek help on forum.

Thanks for reply!

Hello Boki,

I have found this interesting page which may have an answer to your problem.

http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/nlsweb/default.mspx

It says here that the definition for the Serbian Latin Locale has changed from Windows Server 2003 (and Windows XP SP2) to Windows Vista (and that may also mean to the .NET Framework 3.0:

  • In Windows Server 2003 and XP the definition for Serbian (Latin, Serbia) is: sr-SP-Latn
  • In Windows Vista the locale definition for Serbian (Latin, serbia) is: sr-Latn-SP

So maybe this problem is caused by mixing .NET Framework versions (through Visual Studio 2008) and Windows versions.

I suggest to try again, on a fresh Windows XP install, using only Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0. The corresponding locale definition would be sr-SP-Latn.

Give it a try and send us your feedback.

Saludos,

Alejandro

Boki, please be aware, that all language packs are community contributions and not officially issued and maintained by the DotNetNuke core team.

But I guess, Alejandro has found the reason for the issue, we haven't addressed yet, please log this into the public issue tracker at support.dotnetnuke.com.
