I would like to create a localized portal, and I'm using a language package for that.
Now there is that combo box at the top, that lets you select English or my other language, Hebrew.
Is there a way to avoid this combo?
The idea is to have 2 separate portals: one in English, one in Hebrew. So in each of them, changing language is not needed, actually not allowed.
Thanks,
Ron

The language selector is part of the skin, and it will show itself when more than one language is available. If you only need one language in one portal, you can go to admin > languages, and disable all but the needed language for this portal (and repeat that for all your portals)

The other option of course is to remove the language skin object from the skin... (you might want to read up on skinning, there is a skinning document part of the documents download)

cheers,

Erik

Thanks, but as I quote the error message in the title, looks like I cannot do that.
English is the default, and cannot be deleted or even disabled.
So the only way left is to dig into the skin and remove the object there.
I will work on that, but then... How will I set the language?
The default will be English, I guess, and since I killed the combo, I will have no way to change that...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ron

The error message is correct, you cannot disable the default portal language (wich is logical of course). So the thing to do is to first change your default portal language in some other language than en-US (from admin -> site settings). Next you can disable en-US

It might be a good idea to read up on DNN Localization. There is a Localization document part of the documentation download on the downloads page.

cheers,

Erik

I don't see an option to change default language in admin-languages.
There is only a list of languages, disable/delete for each one,
under that a check box "delete all resources...",
and under that Add New Locale.
Can you please specify how can I change the default language?
Thanks,
Ron
