I had posted with this problem in Configure It - clearly the wrong location.
As I now have more info it would seem to be OK to duplicate and add to in the correct forum.

4.35 on a good shared host

I need to change the wording of the default Registration screen.
I am editing the Register.ascx in local recources/admin/security using the Language editor.
Although my edits show up in the editor they do not carry over into the page.  Same in Host and admin editors.

I was also going to ask - Is there a file where I can edit these offline -then I decided to be radical and actually read the Localisation pdf. Doh!

Half an hour later . . .
I read the docs and looked at the .resx files.
I can make effective changes to any resx files inside App_GlobalResources but any changes to Register.ascx.resx or Register.ascx.Portal-0.resx are saved by the language editor to the respective files but are not shown in the online page ? I have flushed every cache I can find.  Its almost like these are hard coded or there is a file I cannot find.

You know those times when DNN can drive you crazy ?    Aargh !
Any ideas would be very greatfully recieved.  (All I need to do is change the label User-name to Login-name).

Thanks

Ian

Did you try Admin > Security > signin?

I have found the same fields/text will exist in other r.f.

Also, it helps to go to the page with the text, right click and view source, search for the text and look for the text before the words:

dnn_ctr619_CustomLogin_lblUsername, the text would be found in an r.f. CustomLogin

The "register" button is missing on my registration page.  All that is there is the cancel buttton.
I am seeing log entries "Core Localization File Not Found: : /Admin/Security/App_LocalResources/Register.ascx.resx"  How do I replace the missing file? (DNN 4.0)

Thanks

You can the original file from your original dotnetnuke zip file. Just extract the file from the zip and save to that folder.

This help resolved a problem I had tried to resolve for some time. Your advice was bang on - i.e. check the source and review the control name.
