I was wondering if the next version of the help module is going to incorporate Ajax or are there any limiting factors preventing its implementation. It would be a perfect module to take advantage of the technology.

The next version is being developed now.  It is a ground up rewrite that will be fully unit tested and automation tested.  We are going to ensure it is XHTML compliant and uses CSS for layout as well.  I agree that AJAX would fit in nicely and we are planning to do just that.
