Dear all,

I've a question on using AD module on DNN.

When I used it, It seems quite useful that user role, fax no, etc can synchronize from AD. However, the problem is no display name was synchronized with user account.

If the user do not have display name, he/she cannot change the settings for him/her unless admin/host help them to fill in their display name. It seems so stupid.

How to fix the problem? I want to synchronize the user's display name together with other information.

Thanks. Please help me to solve this problem together.

It sounds as if the users firstname and lastname aren't stored in the AD which would explain why they aren't populated in DNN.

As far as the user fixing it. Is it because they don't know where to click on the site to open up their profile?

Yes, you are right.

As the user cannot see the link which can show their profiles, they can't open their profile themselves.

Also, one more question. In AD, our users usually uses their password which are shorter than 7 characters in length. However, I remember that it is restrict to have our users in more than or equal 7 characters for their login password.

Therefore, if I synchronize the AD account to my DNN website, it throws error like "password invalid" while the user haven't input incorrectly.

How can I fix it?

See my reply about identity impersonate in this thread to see if that fixes the Firstname/Lastname problem.

As for the passwords, change minRequiredPasswordLength="7" in your web.config to whatever your minimum password AD length is.

Thanks mikeh~

Your solution really help me to solve my problem!!

After solving those problem, it seems working right on my website. However, my user reported me that when she tried to logout at a page which used for internal only (i.e. you need to login to see the details), an error "the page cannot be shown" is found.

As I've tested it on the site without using window authentication, same error occurred. It seems not the problem of applying window authentication. Or just the DNN bugs?

Thanks for all kindly reply! All your answers helps me a lot!
