I have installed DNN 3.2.2 on a Windows 2003 Server domain controller and everything is working fine until I attempt to configure DNN for Windows Authentication.

I have taken the necessary steps to configure DNN Windows Authentication:

  • Select the DNN Windows Authentication checkbox under Admin/Authentication.
  • Un-comment the Windows Authentication module in web.config.
  • Remove Anomymous access and select integrated Windows Authentication for the DotNetNuke IIS virtual directory.
  • Add necessary DNN portal alias.

After conducting the above steps I am able to use IE to connect to DNN… after entering appropriate username and password at authentication prompt…. however if I use a .NET program to connect to DNN with supplied credentials (using HttpWebRequest and NetworkCredential classes) … I am unable to connect… I receive a 401 unauthorized HTTP response.

The .NET program in question is able to connect to other non-DNN apps configured for Windows Authentication.   I have also traced/ debugged the .NET program in question to ensure that security credentials are being supplied properly.

Any suggestions ???

Philip
