I just upgraded from 4.4 to 4.7.  My windows authentication is not working anymore.  Where is the setup for it 4.7?

I had to comment this line just to get the site to come up.

 <httpModules>
     <!--  <add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" /> -->

It was giving me this error,

Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (D:\Websites\DNN\web.config line 54)

Help!

Did you install the 01.00.00 ActiveDirectoryProvider when you upgraded? If not then you can find it in the Install/Packages directory of the DNN version you downloaded (it has a .resources extension on it).

All the instructions are listed in the pinned post at the top of the AD Forum but I'll quickly go through them again.

  1. If you didn't install the provider when you did a fresh install or if you did an upgrade from a lower version of DNN you'll have to rename the ActiveDirectory_01.00.00_Install.Resourses file found in Install/Packages to a .zip file until the provider can be downloaded from the downloads page.
  2. Log in with Host credentials and go to Host->Host Settings and expand Authentication Settings. Underneath the installed providers is a link button to install a provider (The provider package is NOT installed under Module Definitions).
  3. Click the install link and follow the directions listed.

Do not uncomment the old Authentication line as a new one will be added when you install the provider.
