Ok, this afternoon I downloaded 4.8.3 install package and successfully installed DNN with forms authentication.  We are on an intranet (corporate domain) so IIS 6 has anonymous off by default. So far so good.

I created a new superuser account for myself in the form of "MY_DOMAIN\my_username". 

I went into the root portal and enabled "ADSI" and filled in the appropriate information.  And got the all green "OK" on applying the settings.

Now every visit to the portal, DNN sees me as the "MY_DOMAIN\my_username" user (as it should) and I still have superuser account priviledges. Yay still going good.

Problem is whenever anyone new from our domain visits the portal, no new user is created for them.  I thought that was supposed to happen.  What am I missing? I am sure it is something simple.

I see no errors in the event viewer.

What's also interesting is I wiped out all my cookies, restarted IIS (for a different app) and havent visited the web site in several hours.  Now when I go there it doesnt even recognize me by my AD credentials and i have to log in as host or admin.

I would love to follow the AD how-to but I havent been able to find a step by step instructional guide. Plenty of them around for other versions where you set file security on the windowslogin.aspx (something like that). I also dont see anything in the DNN documentation zip file either. Is there a how-to doc somewhere else?

Thanks. Just found that link a few minutes ago as well.

I walked through with the guide and still am not having any success. I'll look at it again in the morning. 

Maybe tomorrow I'll try with the source version of everything and build it myself so I can step through the debugger.
