Hi,
We are using DNN, version 4.8.4 for our corporate website.
What I want to do is to have basic authentification for our external customers and AD Authentification with autologin inside our private LAN for my co-workers.
My idea is to allow our internal users to access and see extranet pages normally available only for our customers, without creating 700 accounts (basic authentification) for each of my co-workers.
I Installed Active Directory 01.00.04 Beta provider latest version from today, gave him autologin IP subnet, and it works great.
But I've a big problem, because Google and other search engines or not able to crawl our website if I activate AD Authentification.
They get 302 error, even if the website is a available from internet.
For information, an internal user will be seen as from IP address like 192.168 (internal IP subnet) and a visitor will be seen with it's internet public address, my firewall doesn't make NAT to route to the IIS machine which hosts DNN.
If someone has an idea of best practice or what to do, it will be very great !
Best regards and thanks a lot,

Marc DIZIEN

Here are a couple of ideas, just off the top of my head:

Test your site with Firefox and install the addon that lets you configure your user agent so you can impersonate the Googlebot and see what it's seeing.   Does it matter if the AD module is disabled when you impersonate the Googlebot, are the results the same?

I read a couple of threads when I google "302 error googlebot" that lead me to want to check if this is part of the DNN URL rewriter, so you might want to test with friendly urls on and off.  Might want to post in the general configure it forum, maybe install it.

It sounds like you are analyzing your IIS log already, have a look at what pages are actually getting the 302, see if there's a trend, is it all pages it's hitting or only some of them?  See if there's a trailing slash issue, and what domain name the Googlebot is hitting, with/without the www.

Good luck, do let us know what you find out!

Roberta

Hi,
I just try again few minutes ago, here is what I get in my IIS logs:
- With AD Authentification:
2008-06-25 17:51:06 W3SVC1 WEBSERVER 192.168.130.12 GET /Default.aspx - 80 - 80.65.232.115 HTTP/1.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+5.5;+Windows+98) - http://www.ufcv.fr www.ufcv.fr 302 0 0 765 173 15
- Without AD Authentification:
2008-06-25 21:06:50 W3SVC1 WEBSERVER 192.168.130.12 GET /Default.aspx - 80 - 80.65.232.115 HTTP/1.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+5.5;+Windows+98) - http://www.ufcv.fr www.ufcv.fr 200 0 0 43101 173 125
I use a French online website testing tool (www.outiref.com - IP = 80.65.232.115 ), which tests an URL and scrolls the page, as a search engine.
I've really no idea about what's happening.
Regards,
Marc
