DNN Error: Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user domain/user

Everything seems to be working fine i have installed the latest version of dnn and ad authentication. I am trying to create a intranet with users being logged in automatically according to active directory and for the most part it has been working fine. but i seem to get an error after a period of time eg over night or 2 hours i get back in the morning and i receive the abouve error for about 10 minutes then the home page can be refreshed and then loads fine.

I am very new to dnn so i could have a wrong line of code or something. i added the impersonate= 'true part and i have the following line in my web config file:

<add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory" />

but was unable to use this line:

< add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" />

Thanks in advance

You don't want the second line you posted uncommented. That's a legacy line that hasn't be removed from the web.config yet.

Is it the same user? Is it  your impersonation user or a different one? Did you setup the impersonation as describled in the AD Provider documentation?

The second line is commented out so thats ok i guess. yeah i think i set up the impersonation as described, i did use an active directory user who is not an administrator could that be a problem? It is the same user as the impersonation, if i look at the site from another user it still says the impersonation user name rather than there user name. I did notice the user name it displays was not a user on the database could that be a problem?

It's best not to use an administrator as the user in your web.config for security reasons so you made the right choice there and the user doesn't need to be a DNN user either. The documentation I was talking about can be found here (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/Forge/ProviderAuthentication/Downloads/tabid/852/Default.aspx) if that's not what you've been looking at.

I'll come back to your post in a bit. I'm walk-by posting while I'm waiting for a lab to image and have to get back to it.
