I upgraded one of my sites from 4.6.2 to 4.9.  When I try to logon I get:

  A critical error has occurred.
Could not load the assembly 'DotNetNuke.Authentication.LiveID'. Make sure that it is compiled before accessing the page.

I copied the upgrade to the site but I get the same error.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Based on the error message you are missing the DotNetNuke.Authentication.LiveID.dll file that is par tof the LiveID authentication provider.

I would validate that everything installed correctly.  You might also try disabling this via the database, however, I cannot guarantee how well what will work.

The .dll should be in the <DnnInstall>\Bin\Providers directory.

The dll is in the folder specified.  It's 27k dated 11/7/2007.  The same folder contains two other dll's.  Janrain.OpenId.dll and the DNN OpenID dll.

I tried recopying the upgrade out to the website but that did not change anything.

Michael, I've only got once site setup to use the LiveID and it's currently running 4.6.2 because it's my "test" bed for the AD provider. I'll see if I can do a backup of the site tomorrow night and then upgrade it to 4.9.0 and duplicate the problem you're having.
