What error message(s) are you getting when you try to uninstall/reinstall?

BTW I tried the install on my production site which has not been upgraded to DNN 5.1.1 it is still 5.0 and it failed the same way

What are the permissions on the web.config? Does the user the site runs under have read/write permissions to it? Is the file set to read only (it shouldn't be)?

I even tried giving "everyone" full access to the web.config  just to make sure but it did not work iether, everything else seems fine I updated forms, users online, reports to the latest version without problems.

what is it trying to do with the web config and how can I iether prevent it from doing it or do it manually myself?
