How do I install the active directory authentication piece on an existing install that does not have active directory installed from the get go?

Log in with Host credentials and install it under Host->Host Settings->Authentication Services. If you're running DNN 4.9.0 then I suggest you read this article for details on how to get around a problem with the FCKEditor when installing a provider (http://training.virtual-essentials.com/Tutorials/tabid/120/smid/481/ArticleID/12/t/Installing-Active-Directory-Authentication-Package-on-DotNetNuke-/Default.aspx)

Thank you Mike, i have managed to install the Active Directory module on one of my test virutal servers with no problems, however when I go to install it on my actual dev server I am getting:

Failure Exception - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Failure Installation Failed - Config

Anything I should check, I would hate to do a reinstall of dotnetnuke as this install has many configurations in place ( users, menu Basic UI stuff )

thanks,

nevermind problem solved, it was the web.config... one of our developers who doesnt know what she is doing messed with it. Replaced the web.config file with an orginal and copied the machine and decrypt keys from the old web.config to the new web.config --- problem solved.

I have the same problem, what in the web config can cause this? I have recently upgraded DNN to 5.1.1 and now I was trying to upgrade the AD module to 5.0.2 then I thought to uninstall and it failed as well now I have been left with half of it, it does not work, it will not install/upgrade and it will not uninstall, what in the web.config could I change?
