Hi Adrien

Sorry for my delay in getting back to you. I've attempted a number of upgrades trying to re-produce the problem and I just can't. If you look in the DNN EventViewer does it give you a more detailed error message? Something in there may at least point me to the procedure that's giving you the problem.

Here is the contents of the DNN EventViewer, not sure you will find any help in it.

Yeah you're right. That's not helping.  Any time I've run into a similar problem it was because I didn't have permission to read something in the AD and needed to user impersonation. I'll keep plugging away to see if I can recreate it.

I don't know if this would help at all, but I get a different error message if I try to update the settings without changing anything. The error message is:
Error: is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.Configuration.UpdateConfig(Int32 PortalID, Boolean WindowsAuthentication, Boolean Hidden, String RootDomain, String EmailDomain, String AuthenticationUserName, String AuthenticationPassword, Boolean SynchronizeRole, Boolean SynchronizePassword, Boolean StripDomainName, String ProviderTypeName, String AuthenticationType, String SubNet) at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.Settings.UpdateSettings() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Other effects I notice is the ProviderType and Authentication Type selection boxes are empty with no possible choices after either error is thrown.

Another observation.

I was perusing the database, trying to see if I could bypass the UI and set the values directly in the database, Portal Settings table. I was surprised to see the settings named like AD_* had the correct settings i was trying to put in. These settings have never shown on the UI when loaded. Are these the correct settings or Could it be that there are settings missing from this table
