Hi,

I am working on a web protal that requires to display static files e.g. images in jpg format and these static files must be protected from unauthorized and unauthenticated requests. also i need to provide a document library where i can store PDF, DOC and XLS files with predefined set of roles and rights.

Now i want to know how to design a document library to prevent the static file from being used by unauthorized/unauthenticated users via asp.net c#??

I tried this using forms authentication and file mapping in web.config file and Application_AuthenticateRequest in global.aspx and it works. But when i debug the code  Application_AuthenticateRequest is fired for multiple times (for each jpg/css/gif). Am i making some mistake or it is it's normal behavior. But i think it will slow down the performace.

Please suggest what should i do??

In the DotNetNuke File Manager use the Secure File System or Secure Database options to limit who can access files, and make them not staticly accessible through common URLs.
