Also, when I clicked the "Next" link at the bottom of the Extension wizard, this message came up on the next page. Maybe this will give you an idea of what I got going wrong here.
A critical error has occurred.
Could not find a part of the path 'd:\hosting\jumpdude1\greenbrierband.net\Install\Temp\wohhfr2r\OpenID_Install.dnn'.

 Thanks, Jeff..

there seems to be a packaging issue with OpenID, I remember the packaging format has been changed during DNN 5.0/5.1 times and the package might not be updated. please log an issue into the issue tracker at support.dotnetnuke.com, thank you.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

OK, here's where I am at so far with this issue. I went in to the host extensions and found in the Authentication area, the option to do the OpenID from there. I did the process in there and made the changes to go live with the OpenID as the Login. Now it gives the option to login with the "Standard" login and the "OpenID"  login. Is this the same as the module that I am trying to install. It appears to me that the OpenID was there the whole time. The login that I am interested in is the one that offers the option to login using any of the popular social networks such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and so on and so forth. I know that there's an OpenID that does that, but I'm not sure that the module will do that.

yes, it looks like OpenID has already been installed. If you need other shared login providers, you will need to install 4rd party components (check out www.codeplex.com and www.snowcovered.com)
