I went through configuration again, and I can see that it pulls the AD servers from the network.  However, when I try to use "Windows Login" option, all I get is "Login Failed. Please remember that passwords are case sensitive".  The "Standard" login still works fine

How long is your password?

9 characters.  Actually, I have a question -- let's assume DNN gets a hold of AD and authenticates my domain account.... how does DNN portal know what to do with that account?  Don't I need a "global role" for domain users created for my DNN installation, and make sure its name matches the group name in AD?

Okay so it's not that the password is too short (default in DNN is 7 characters). Have you setup any rules on your DNN install as far as password complexity goes? What happens if you try going to http://<YourDNNInstall>/desktopmodules/authenticationservices/Activedirectory/windowssignin.aspx? Do you get logged in then?

Initially the user is just put into the Users role in DNN. You can synch roles to match AD groups but you don't have to do that initially. Let's get it working first and worry about that later. :)

When I open http://<YourDNNInstall>/desktopmodules/authenticationservices/Activedirectory/windowssignin.aspx, it thinks for a moment and then lets me see the homepage.  The URL changes to something like "http://<YourDNNInstall>/Home/tabid/36/logon/63424555075978620... -- our site is "public", we only require login for content management and administration.

But when I click on the "Login" link and select "Windows Login" option, it doesn't let me in
