We have a DNN 5.5.1 installation running 4 portals using standard (forms?) DNN authentication.  So our users must register in order to access some of the pages and/or to edit content.  We want to switch to AD / Windows authentication instead, and we'll have to do it on one portal at the time (i.e. they have a common web.config file in the DNN installation root).  What is the recommended procedure?

I downloaded and installed the "AD Auth. Provider" extension, and enabled it (in addition to standard DNN authentication). It actually showed all the AD servers on the network... The login page now shows BOTH - "DNN Login" and "Windows Login" selections. The DNN login still works, but AD/Windows Login still doesn't.  What am I doing wrong?  Or what did I forget?

What happens when your AD user tries to login? Any error message? You can find the user documentation on my site... http://dnn.gmss.org/ADProviderBetas.aspx (I can't find it here since the redesign of the site last weekend).

When I switch Auth. to "Windows" instead of forms, it starts asking for AD username/password, but then sits there forever, nothing else ever happens.

There's no need to switch to Windows in your web.config. Leave it on Forms.
