Hi,

I’m new to DNN (ver 06.01.03) and to this forum and I hope I’ve posted this n the right place!

Question- I have inherited a DNN site and have been reviewing my predecessor notes.  He comments he couldn’t get the Windows Authentication working and I somehow managed to seamless sign-on working.  However when I check Admin>Extensions>Authentication Systems - DNN_ActiveDirectoryAuthentication settings I noticed the error message –

Error: is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Access is denied. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070005): Access is denied. at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind(Boolean throwIfFail) at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind() at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.get_IsContainer() at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntries.ChildEnumerator..ctor(DirectoryEntry container) at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntries.GetEnumerator() at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.Settings.CheckPipelineMode() at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.Settings.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Can someone explain this to me?

Thanks in advanced for any assistance.

Steve

So you've got users signing in with their Active Directory accounts? Looking at that message it looks like it's giving you an access denied when trying to communicate with the AD itself. Can you give us a few more details about your setup? What version of the provider you're using, server OS, etc.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your quick.

Setup-

I have added users to the DNN application as follows DomainName\UserLoginID and set up IIS Version 7 to Windows Authentication enabled. So when that user opens the DNN website they open as themselves with their assigned roles.

Web server details -
O/S Windows 2008 Standard

DNN details -
Provider not too sure what you mean by this! But I am using DNN_ActiveDirectoryAuthentication version 5.0.2

User PC details -
Windows 7
IE version 9
