I have a DNN installation that I've setup on a Windows 2008 R2 staging server. It is an exact copy of the version that is in the development environment. The only difference (that I can tell) is the server names and connections strings.

I can navigate the site just fine. However, when a user logs in, nothing happens. By that I mean, if a user submits invalid credentials they get an invalid login error message; if they provided correct credentials they are redirected to the 'after login' (the home page) page, but they are not logged in to the system. If I try logging in using the host account the same thing happen, however in the EventLog table in the database it listed a login event for the SuperUser account. And doesn't list any errors. Also, inslexting the cookies that are returned by the server shows that no authentication cookies are being returned.

So, the best I can figure is that something is breaking down between when the user is authenticated and when the user is sent authentication cookies; though, I have no idea what could cause that on one server an not the other.

Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot the issue are greatly appreciated.

Just to verify... you're talking about the standard DotNetNuke authentication and not one of the other authentication providers (AD, LiveID, Google, etc) correct?

Yes, the users are authenticating against the database and no other authentication sources are being used.
