Hi,

one question. When using the AD-provider, the users get created within the DNN-DB. Is there any chance that they can authenticate using the "Standard"-authentication of DNN once created? From testing, it only works when switching to "windows login" but im curious if there is a way to make this work.

Michael,

no, this is not possible. The AD provider creates a random password for the user, this is never used as the provider let's the AD authenticate the user. Otherwise this would not be safe, eg. when a user leaves the company for any reason, the admin would have to disable his/her account on DNN as well or he/she would be able to log in the web site.

To use the "Standard" authentication, you can create a "Standard" user and assign it to the same roles as the Windows user. But this will be a "different" user.

thanks for your answers!´Thats somehow what i thought.

Its a bit unfortunate as i need LiveWriter to connect to a module is only authenticating against membership :(
