I messed up in testing workItem 8512 and forgot to delete the AD_Subnet field from the PortalSettings table once I worked out a way to make sure it was updated so when I made a small change before the release it didn't run into the problem of the settings not appearing to be saved (they were but wouldn't get loaded when the configuration was loaded).

Anyways, I've uploaded a 5.0.6 RC to codeplex (http://dnnauthad.codeplex.com/release...) so if you want to test it out please do. If I don't hear anything by the end of next weekend I'll switch it to a full release. The RC should be safe to run in a production environment as the only code change was one line but, as a precaution and as a standard practice whenever updating/adding a module/provider, make sure you have a backup of your database and website before updating the provider.

What version of DNN are you running? When you say it requires you to login again can you explain more? Are you getting the IIS popup asking you to login or you're having to manually login? What is the time span between browser sessions?
