Heni, you say you have impersonate=true in your web.config. Are you still using Forms Authentication or did you comment that portion out and uncomment Windows Authentication?

Hi Mike,

 I am not using Forms Authentication. I am using Windows authentication and Active directory provider. Here is my web.config settings.

<identity impersonate="true"  userName="XYZ" password="XYZ"/>
    <authentication mode="Windows">
    </authentication>

If i got to page1 for first time when i am logged in with my windows authentication. it might work or i might get Access denied. if it works fine for first time after sometime if i refresh that page1 i get Access denied message. My question to  you is what is the reason if the page is working for first time and give Access denied message second time.

Please let me know if you need any other information

Henri:

I solved your problem by going into the IIS settings for the site, drilling down to the WindowsSignin.aspx page, then going to features view -> authentication -> Windows Authentication -> Providers and setting the only provider to NTLM. This may be dependent on how your network is set up, but it worked for my particular site.

I tried the solution that you gave me but i am still getting same error. "Access Denied". Can you please give me details about what network settings do i need to make this work?

Thanks,

Heni

Hi Henri. I never gave you a solution. Do you mean the solution Maveric gave you?

That said, if you're using in your web.config then you're bypassing the AD provider and using .NETs Windows Authentication. The AD provider is meant to give Forms based DNN installs the ability to authenticate against an Active Directory.
