Now I'm pretty sure that I'm missing something very basic here.  I followed the instructions in the first post about how to setup Windows Authentication.

I'm using Windows Server 2003 with DNN 3.2 with active directory on a different machine.  I've been logging on locally to this machine first as administrator and then as an entry in the active directory.  When I'm logged in as the active directory account I was hoping that DNN would be populated with the users or I could refer to the domain when logging in.

The instructions say to log in under "yourdomain/username" but I can ever get that to work regardless of how I'm logged in.

What major things am I missing here?

Thanks,

Gerald

Gerald,

Ik had the same problem with my own domain www.divedandsurvived.nl. What I did was enter only: divedandsurvived whitout the .nl where it says root domain. And offcourse use the right user with the right authorisations.

Goodluck!

Rene

Hi Gerald,

The correct format should be domain\userid, or fully qualified e-mail if  you allow this on AD userid@domain.xxx.

The user accounts do not "pull-in" en masse from AD, only when a user logs in for the first time does his account get entered in DNN.  That's a nice feature, since you don't need to create users, but depending on how you configure with Win Auth, it will synch with AD roles only on the first login (for mixed account and no challenge response) or at all logins with full NTCR authentication.  You have to also pre-populate the AD groups exactly as defined (spelled) in AD in the roles so that these get pulled over.

All this is true for my install (using delegation) - unless the code has been changed, it should be true for yours.
