Hi.  Has anyone setup DNN to authenticate with two different domains that do NOT share the same forest or trust each other?  It seems like it would require authenticating to two different LDAP or ADSI sources.  I suspect that this is not possible with the DNN Auth AD module, and if not, can anyone recommend a 3rd party module that supports such a scenario?

I seem to remember that that is possible if you are using LDAP. I will check.

Hi Van, 

DNN AD Auth provider allows to authenticate with two different domains if they trusted (could be one or two way trust, depending on domain set as a root domain).

Check out this 3rd party AD provider, I would recommend to contact this vendor to make sure they support domains without trust :

Support For Multiple Domains

By provisioning multiple LDAP paths you have the ability to support offsite domains. You can configure your DNN login to elect your network organisation and share your intranet portals across your organisations.

Thanks Erik and Elenora!  I appreciate the responses.

Yes, I can verify that the  DNN AD provider definitely supports multiple domains that trust each other.  I have that scenario working at the moment.

Thanks for the link to the Glanton AD-Pro module.  Coincidentally, I found that module in the DNN Store last night and I downloaded a trial version.  I'm working on installing and testing that module today.  The documentation for that module is excellent and has some configuration tips that I think might help folks out that are having problems with the DNN AD module on DNN 7.x.  Here's their documentation:

They have a case study that involves two non-trusted domains working simultaneously, so this looks very promising indeed.

Just out of curiosity, does the AD Provider for Evoq support multiple, non-trusted domains?  If so, my customer might be interested in upgrading to the pro version of DNN.

Elenora is correct that the domains have to be trusted for the AD provider to work across multiple domains. AFAIK the pro version of the AD provider is pretty much the same as the one I've been supporting but it's been a long time since I looked at it.
