The original AD password is not stored in the DNN db or even in Active Directory for that matter.
As far as we know it is not possible to actually get the AD password only the hash.
You would then have to run a cracking tool.

When the account is created a random password is generated
and that is what is (SHOULD BE) placed in the DNN database.

We will be doing a big upgrade on a DNN3.2.2 > DNN3.3.5 site soon.
We'll incorporate your changes after a little testing.

thanks,
mikez

Mike,

Thanks for clearing up the DNN AD Password issue.  I have heard people say many time that the AD password is stored and I just assumed it to be true.

I will be interested to hear how your testing goes.  As far as I know I am the only one who uses the DNN AD Fix in production.

Has anyone upgraded the fix to work with DNN4 yet? I'm thinking about looking at it but don't want to if it's already been done.

We just rolled the 3.3.5 fix out onto our production site yesterday. So far no problems with it yet (at least I haven't heard any student complaints).

We are experiencing the same problem here.

I upgraded from 3.2 to 3.3.5 and it seemed to break the creation of new active directory users. The copy of the WindowsSignin.aspx file to the default directory seemed to fix it on that version. We then upgraded the site to 4.3.5 and have the same problem. If users already exist it works if they don’t they it hangs. The WindowsSignin.aspx fix doesn’t work in the version 4. I’m hoping a fix comes along this weekend otherwise I’m going to have to restore 3.2 for my production intranet.

I have published the fix for DNN 3.2, 3.3 and DNN 3.5.

I don't have any DNN 4 installs to develop or use right now so I haven't created a version for DNN 4.x.

If you are upgrading your sever from 3.x to another 3.x you will need to reapply the appropriate fix.
