Ok, so I've got AD all set up and my users are automatically authenticated etc. I do have a couple of questions though.

1. I'm using DNN 4.4.0. Does the role synchronization happen each time a user logs in or only the first time they are logged in and added to the users list? I already had a bunch of users who had logged in before I got a chance to set up some of the roles I want synchronized. How can I get their accounts synchronized?

2. I had a user who is a domain admin. After he was automatically logged in, he hit the logoff button and was logged out. Now, he can't log back in at all. If the user should be automatically logged in using AD, what is the point of the logoff button?

Thanks in advance for the help.

1. Currently synchronization only happens when a user first logs into the site. I've updated a fix that shilbert wrote for DNN 3.3.5 to work in DNN 4.4.0 that fixes that problem. You can download it at http://dnn.gmss.org

2. Errrmmmm I haven't seen that one happen. I know I logged off plenty of times but that was back using DNN 3.3.5. I've since switched to mixed mode for DNN 4.4 and haven't had any problems logging off or on. I'd try blowing his account away in DNN and see what happens when he recreates it.

Thanks so much for the help. After I set up the roles I've started to see some trickle into those roles as users start to use the system so it seems to be working. I'll download and try the patch you mentioned as well.

Now you've brought up another question. Mixed mode. Is that setup any different then the current AD setup I have?

Mixed mode is when you leave the <Authentication.... /> line in the web.config commented out. If the site is available over the internet to the public you have to leave that line commented as Joe Schmoo browsing to the site via the internet will get the IIS request for user credentials because of the permissions set on WindowsSignin.ascx. Also in mixed mode users aren't automatically logged in. I used the script that someone posted in one of the other threads here so that my users don't have to enter their domain name (Domain\Username) but can use just their username. We don't allow outside registrations so I'd have to check to see how the script handles that as I can't remember at the moment.
