First of all let me say thanks to Chris for his work and the work of the others on the Gallery team for this latest release. It is very nice and I depend on it. I only depend on it because it is much better than anything I could code on my own in the same amount of time. It is also the best Gallery out there Commercial or not.

So Crispy even tough I sometimes let my frustration show through I never mean anything by it other than to help you out in whatever way I can to try and make your life a little easier.  Looking back most of these tweaks hacks to get around core issues.

That said I thought that this would be a good time to put in one place a list of the tweaks that need to be done for the current release. These are culled from the rest of the forum with links to the original posts.

This isn't a list of bugs that I'm saying need fixed this is just a list of things people have run into with the current version and how to get around them all in one spot so to make life a little easier for the guy that is installing the Gallery 3.00.11 for the first time.

Gallery 3.0.11 & DNN 3.1.1 - 3.2.1

Problem:

Module installs fine without errors but Configuration page errors with 'object reference not set to an instance of object'.

Fix:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/DotNetNukeProjects/ModuleGallery/tabid/843/forumid/9/threadid/10618/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Extentions were failing to load on page load. Seems to be a problem with a change in the core not the Gallery. In the settings.ascx file lines 82-90 change asp:TextBox to asp:label and txtImageExtentions to lblImageExtentions.

Problem was correctly identified by rogerselwyn and fix posted by DJ Doug. I made the ascx file availble for download for those who didn't want to edit themselfs. You can now open the Configuration page.

Gallery 3.0.11 & DNN 4.0.0

Problem:

Gallery will not install on DNN 4.0.0

Fix:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/DotNetNukeProjects/ModuleGallery/tabid/843/forumid/9/threadid/10947/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Not a Gallery error. It's a known problem in DNN 4. Upgrade to DNN 4.0.1 or modify the web.config file with;

< httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="8192" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192" / >

Gallery 3.0.11 and upgrading a previous install.

Problem:

Getting a unique key constraint error while upgrading an existing install of the Gallery.

Fix:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/DotNetNukeProjects/ModuleGallery/tabid/843/forumid/9/threadid/10704/scope/posts/Default.aspx

This is kind of tricky and not really a fix. Depending on how you installed and upgraded which versions and when. I recommend just reading the post as it's still on going. But never fear you will not lose anything the worst that can happen is you have to move a few folders around.

Gallery 3.0.11 & DNN 3+

Problem:

Unable to run flash files from the Gallery. Missing FlashPlayer.aspx

Fix:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/DotNetNukeProjects/ModuleGallery/tabid/843/forumid/9/threadid/10985/scope/posts/Default.aspx

This is the only problem that seems to actually have a root cause in the Gallery install package. When I installed the package I assummed that Flash had been combined in the Mediaplayer.ascx but I was wrong. To fix it just get the Flasjplayer.ascx file from the old package and place it in the DesktopModules\Gallery folder and also check that the FlashRequest.vb file is located in DesktopModules\Gallery\Components\Request folder.

This worked for me but I can't help but think there was a reason for the file not to be included.

Gallery 3.0.11 in general.

Don't install the source if you don't know what it is. Install the PA package. You don't get anything special or more from the source.

Make sure the permissions on your folders are set up correctly as in the DNN Documentation. Your ASP .Net User must have full permissions.

Install as Host and Add to pages as Admin.

Hope this helps and rolls up some of the other threads into one place.
