Hi, i currently working on this site

http://www.primerojusticiaex.com

and im having a problem where even on fast conections, the gallery takes about 10-20sec to load, since its server side i was thinking that i may have something not configure right (its my first DNN page).

its hosted at godaddy (premium windows server) and its running the lastest DNN 4.5.0 and im using the Patched gallery module from "James Jegers", using (mostly) the module default configuration, i just disabled voting, commenting, watermark and change the rows and columns both to 3.

I will also appreciate to have some recomendation about others modules to have media galeries (free or paid) that are easy to use, with the same or more options as "gallery" and doesnt take to much to load.

thank you.

Hi cyberblood.

I stopped using the pached /core gallery module not because of speed but because it was constantly writing error log entries.
IMO: the best galery module I have seen, and the one I use is Simple Gallery from Ventrian http://www.ventrian.com

For $25 you get the excellent simple gallery module plus some other very useful modules such as an Article module thats worth the price alone.

See Simple Gallery on one of my sites http://www.royal-southern.co.uk/Cruising/CruisingMedia/tabid/94/Default.aspx
Used here in "lightbox" mode It even works in Safari. (clunk-clunk)

Best $25 I have spent for a long time.

Hope this helps

Cyberblood:

What part do you think is too slow?  I looked at your gallery and its performance is very reasonable to me, almost instantaneous.

Weird, i just check and like you said, its almost instantaneous. and i havent change anything since i post, usually was taking about 10 sec to load the gallery to show the albums, and them another 10 sec to enter the album, after being inside the album (i dont have any sub albums) works flawlessly and you can looks at the pictures fine.

I really dont have a explanation but i guess i should be happy that now works fine, i will try again tomorrow at a different time to see if it still works.

and also Betacam thanks for pointing me to ventrian.com, that image module looks really nice and its a nice deal, im sure considering into buying it.

Thanks to both of you that post a repply, its nice to see there is people willing to help me. :D

I had performance issues with the core gallery and gave up on it as well.  I have switched to the Ventrian module and am not going back to anything else!!!
