I don't know if you are aware of the fact that when DNN is not used for about 15 minutes it is removed or unloaded from memory.  The next request that comes to the site will trigger the load of the application again and will experience a delay.  This is not a DNN specific issue or problem, this is the way ASP.Net works.  Once the application is loaded in memory you will not experience this delay, that is, if the site keeps getting traffic to keep it loaded.  If not DNN will be removed from memory again.

See the following thread for a discussion of the keepalive issue: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/120292/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Carlos has it right.  If there are not enough people hitting the page where the Module is loaded ASP (actually IIS) will unload it from the cache.  With the newer versions of DNN there are more options for keeping modules loaded in cache but you will still need to use the keepalive page running if your site doesn't get enough hits to keep the application going.

yeah, i didnt mention it before but i use host-tracker.com to "visit" my site every 10 min. I tried just now, and the gallery again takes about 15 sec to show up, the rest of the page its loads fine, maybe since its not on a dedicated server, could be that at certain times  of the day (peak hours) it takes longer to load because of the server is busy, i dont know.

Well for now i have to use gallery module, which its fine but soon or later i will have to "resolve" this problem, with an updated gallery module (i wish, the module isnt so bad) or using the "simple gallery module" instead.

That will only hit the main page of your site and keep the DNN application loaded and running.  Some individule modules on pages  need  to load  at  times or they will be dumped out of the cache.  The Gallery module is one of those types.  You should be able to set a cache time in seconds under module settings that will keep it in memory longer.

Cyberblood:

Using a tool like this one: http://whois.domaintools.com/primerojusticiaex.com you can see that there are, at least, 2,235 other Web sites on the server that you share (look for the Reverse IP line).  I say at least because these are the ones that share the same IP address, there could be others with different addresses on the same server.  That is quite a bit of traffic you are competing with.

Take a look at this gallery I maintain and tell me how you see the performance: http://collegeparkjudo.org/PhotoGallery/tabid/54/Default.aspx
