I have put together a patched version of the Gallery module with most of the known issues fixed in it.  Recently, it has been updated to display friendlier errors when the directory permissions are wrong (the dreaded critical error), and thanks to Chris Paterra, it now has a standard DNN install.

Hopefully this version will become the next official Gallery version, but I would like to hear some feedback to see if anyone has any issues with the install before it goes out to everyone.

You can download it on my website at  www.Jegers.com

James,

I have a little High School reunion site built in DNN v 4.3.7 and the Gallery gives me fits !!  I get tons of page load exceptions and every now and then it just wigs out and you cant up load files .  It drives me nuts !!!

Where could I get my hands on the “patched version”  and the process to patch on my site ?

Best Regards,

David Starr

I'll try to help out.  My site is mainly based on the Gallery.  I have 100's of pics that i need to show.  My wife paints models kits and need to show pics of them and shows that we go too.

I just test new gallery module.

I found it still have a problem if the name of the album not useing English character. For example: 我的寶貝女兒

Then I can't add any photo into that album, all file upload to that album will put into gallery root directory and I have no chance to rename it again. It seems there has no place to delete that album. I can delete the album only when I try to upload file into the gallery root. That a little strange.

Another problem is: it seems there is no method to move a photo from one album to another one. The only way is you delete the original one and upload a new one to the new album. That strange also. But I think it acceptable if there is no such function.

I am very glad that I have the opportunity to test the new gallery module. Is there any place can find the old bug found before. I can try to work through it for testing. I really hope DNN can have a great gallery module.
