Hello, I am a DNN newbie and my programmer is out of the country for a month so this is a showstopper for me. The hosting company no longer supports this module apparently so any explicit instructions will help.

I have an existing instance of the Gallery module (I don't know what version of the Gallery module this is or even how to find out) and am trying to insert it but nothing happens, no error messages. I click Add and nothing happens.

At the bottom of the browser window, I see "transferring info", then "done" but the module never appears on the page.

I suspect that you have the only publicly released version of the Gallery v 3.01.12 which was available as part of the old DNN forums module. If this is the case, I would be very surprised if it would successfully install and be usable in DNN 5.0 as it had many issues making it generally unusable in DNN 4.x. I am surprised, however, that you did not receive any error message when adding the module to a page - did you check the Admin --> Event Viewer to see if any errors were logged? BTW, was this an upgrade of a DNN 4.x site which already had the Gallery module installed to DNN 5.0?

If you have Host permission on the site you should be able to determine the installed module version by inspecting its definition at Host --> Module Definitions. If not and you can examine the site's files, you should find reference to the version in the file DesktopModules\Gallery\Documentation\Contributors.txt. If this were not a DNN 5.0 site, you could also look at the Gallery.dnn.config manifest file to obtain the version.

At any rate, a new version of the Gallery 4.03.00 is now passing through the Release Tracker testing and if all goes well should be available within the next few weeks (mid-January??). In addition to fixing literally hundreds of bugs and adding several enhancements, the new version has received some testing in DNN 5.0 RC2 and appears to work well.  The new version will require DNN 4.9.0 as its minimum framework.

Just tried it again and here are the results from the event viewer, doesn't look like an error as it is color coded in green which should mean "Item Created"

ModuleId: 746
ModuleTitle: Gallery
TabModuleID: 698
TabID: 36
PortalID: 0
ModuleDefId: 117
FriendlyName: Simple Gallery
IconFile:
Visibility: Maximized
ContainerSrc:
Server Name: GENERIC34

The module definition shouws version 02.04.00 - I think this is really old and may be a choice the programmer made for some reason - not sure, he's out of the country for a month and I'm a bit lost (clearly!). Thanks Bill, your help is greatly appreciated!

and yes, this was already installed on 4.x and someone (the host I presume) upgraded us to 5.0 - this is when the issue started. tx.

From the FriendlyName field of the event viewer and the version #, I think you may have Ventrian's Simple Gallery module rather than an early DNN Gallery. Ventrian provides great support. A direct link to the page for this product is:
