Hello,

I just installed the beta version from codeplex. It installed fine and I added the Gallery module to a page. I don't see a way to add anything to it. I have basically a blank module with a Configuration menu item. The Configuration menu lets me specify a few things but nothing there gives me any indication on how to create albums or upload photos. I see no other UI that would let me do this.

I checked the FAQ and I have a list of allowed file types in the Host menu. I'm a little unclear about what the permissions on the module need to be but I gave All Users edit permissions just to see if that would do it but no luck.

I feel like I'm missing some fundamental configuration step but I'm stumped.

Thanks for any help,

Tom

  1. In order to add albums and/or files, the user must have been given edit permission on the module.
  2. If the "Is Private" checkbox is checked in the gallery configuration and a particular user assigned as a gallery or album owner, only that user (or the admin or host accounts) will be able to add child albums and files.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over the little "mountain/sun" icon in the upper left corner of the module. You will then see clickable menu items for "Add Album" and "Add Files"
  4. Once albums and files are added, this same icon provides additional options for editing and gallery maintenance.
  5. If albums have been created, you may also hover the mouse over the album "cover" and select Add Child Album, Add Files, Edit Album from the context menu which will appear.

I too am having the same problem.  What appears to be happing is this menu that is suppose to show up is not being displayed.  I have a DNN skin that is 100% based on div tags and css files, so my guess is there is an issue with the positioning of this menu.  Would it make sense to move this menu so that it is part of the main module menu?

If your site is public facing, could you grant me temporary access with edit permission on the Gallery module so that I can better see what is happening? You may contact me at bill (at) wesnetdesigns.com.

You might also try placing the gallery in a container which wraps its content pane in one table-table-row-table cell to see if that fixes the problem.
