I just installed Gallery 4.3 on my upgraded 4.9.5 test site and it's great!  Finally, I can upgrade production!  But I'm having a couple of issues.

The main one is that there are seven files, in 3 galleries formerly in Gallery 3.0.1, which don't display.  They did display in 3.0.1, the files are there, they even show in the popup when you click on the filename.  But they don't display in the grid on the page.  I notice that all these files contain special characters in the filename - mostly commas, but one has a + and an apostrophe.  Do I need to rename these files to get them to show in the page grid?

My second issue is that I can't get the DNNSimple theme, which I'd like to use, to display, in these specific galleries.  No matter what I choose in the format dropdown in these galleries, I can't get rid of the "picture frame" around each thumbnail.  In another gallery on another page, DNNSimple works fine.  Any suggestions?

About the fact that the DNNSimple theme won't always display:  I just noticed that this only happens, and apparently always happens, when there are multiple gallery modules on a single page.  In the one case where I have only one gallery on a page, DNNSimple displays just fine (and looks very nice, too).

Hi hedera,

for your fist issue, I like to suggest as a solution for now, that you rename your files (do it also into the tumbinal xml files !)

Your 2nd issues I like to say to post it as a issue on http://dnngallery.codeplex.com to the Isue Tracker please.  I could not yet reproduce it about I am bussy.  But I never have think of that the module want be added more than one times to one page.  So I think it could real happend, that we have add some more module ID information to the popups.

Thanks

Regarding the non-display of thumbnails for several of the files which did display in Gallery v 3.0.1 . . .

Although filenames with embedded commas or '+' signs are valid DOS file names, these characters are invalid in a filename URL - hence the missing image X being displayed in place of a thumbnail. When building the thumbnail URL's, the file names should be properly URL encoded . . . but are not getting encoded.

As a work around, you would need to both rename the actual files (in main gallery or each child album folder as well as in the corresponding _thumbs and _source folders. After you have renamed the files the administrative user should be able to click on the refresh/resync icon at the top or bottom of the gallery thumbnail view to automatically rebuild the _metadata.resources xml file that exists in each album.

I've tried reproducing your second issue by adding three gallery modules to the same page (in a DNN 5.2.0 site). All three modules used the DNN simple theme and displayed properly without interaction between the three modules as various configuration, view, and sort order settings were changed. Could you please advise the following:

1. Was one or more of the multiple galleries on the page upgrades from existing v 3.0.1 gallery modules?
2. Describe what you mean by the DNN Simple theme not displaying . . . does any part of the problem module display on the page? What happens when you select a theme other than DNN Simple for the module that is not displaying.
3. Are any errors being logged in the Event Viewer for any of the gallery modules on the page?
4. Have you tried viewing the page in other browsers?
5. Please try clearing your browser cookies as there is one know issue with an error being thrown and the gallery not displayed following an upgrade from a v 3.0.1 gallery.
6. If this is a live site, is it possible for me to view the page where the problem with multiple galleries is occuring?
