I've seen a couple of references to what might be the same as my problem but never seen a resolution.

I've been able to install the Gallery module on DNN 3.1.0 after making the change to the gallery.dnn file and the module installs fine.  I am able to add albums and photos and configure all I want.  The problem comes when I ether restart IIS or given enough time that the cache clears.  It also happens when I try do access the maintenence button.

I made the sugjested (sp) changes to the maintenence.aspx file with no results other than the module fails straight away instead of after awhile.

Here are the errors I'm getting with DNN 3.1.0 and the version of the Gallery module posted on 6/14/05.  There can't be just a couple of us running into this could there?  :)

Hi Adeian,

I am having the same issues as well. I would be really interested to find out the resolution, as I cannot work out the reasons behind it all.

I'll keep looking for answers myself, and post back if I have any success.

Cheers,

Steve.

You could try reading a couple of the other posts....

Run this: (don't forget to change {databaseOwner} and {objectQualifier} to match with your database config)

UPDATE {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}DesktopModules

SET BusinessControllerClass = ''

WHERE FriendlyName = 'Gallery'

GO

then copy the dll from the install package to the bin directory and overwrite the old version. Seems to work for most people (myself included)

Yeah I did see those other post with this fix.  They were posted aboout a week after my original post.  It does work too, unfortunatly only if you happen to be logged on.  Users that are not logged on still generate the error.

I've pretty much decided not to go with DotNetNuke.  There just seem to be to many problems.  If the main dotnetnuke site ran a little faster and I didn't see the same errors on it that I do on my testing server I might wait the couple more weeks for the gallery release.

Thanks for the help though.

Its the classic case of you get what you pay for!

I have implemented the fix along with some css changes while I wait for the new version - to me this is the benifit of DNN is that you can play with it to make it do what you want!

Try the gallery at www.taratec.co.uk and you will see that it will work - dont forget to copy the dll over once you have made the change with the script and preferably run it in QA rather than the DNN webform so you can see that it has worked!
